The Story Behind Your Liqueur
Din Likør began with curiosity – and a chance meeting.
In 2021, Martin and Fie met. At the time, Martin had begun exploring the fascinating world of bees under the guidance of an experienced beekeeping mentor, Claus Haugaard. Claus was a passionate beekeeper and a warm, knowledgeable person who gave Martin a deeper understanding of the life of bees – and of the sense of calm that comes from working closely with nature. Beekeeping became both a new passion and a form of therapy.
Sadly, Claus passed away unexpectedly, and Martin took over his beehives and beekeeping operation. This marked the beginning of a new chapter – and of something that would grow far beyond a hobby.
At the same time, Martin had been experimenting with a small mead brewery together with a friend. Although that partnership soon came to an end, the idea of creating a drink based on honey lived on.
Fie was immediately inspired by the idea: imagine being able to create a truly unique Danish drink made with honey from our own beehives. We began experimenting with recipes and brewing methods, and from the very beginning, we agreed on one thing: from the very first sip, there should be no doubt about what the drink was made from. Its flavour should clearly reflect its ingredients.
Not everything succeeded at first, but some combinations turned out to be truly special. We began attending various local markets, including traditional fairs, where we introduced our products and received honest feedback directly from customers.
The response came quickly – and it was unmistakable. We often had to return home to collect more products, and on many occasions, we were completely sold out after the very first day.
Everything we earned at the markets was reinvested in the project. We purchased better equipment, more ingredients and additional bottles. Gradually, both the quality of our products and the demand for them continued to grow.
Today, we have an award-winning product created with a love of nature, craftsmanship and authentic flavour.
Our liqueurs are made with honey as their foundation. We ferment the honey ourselves, much like fruit is fermented in winemaking. We add fruits and herbs, but no artificial additives.
The result is a range of liqueurs with flavour profiles ranging from semi-dry to sweet. They can be enjoyed as an after-dinner drink, in cocktails, with dessert – or simply in good company.
That is why we chose the name Din Likør – “Your Liqueur” – to emphasise that this is something special: a liqueur with depth, character and Nordic authenticity.
Today, Fie and Martin are partners both in Din Likør and in life. They enjoy their everyday work together as beekeepers, brewers and sales partners – and as partners in everything that truly matters.
“Our mission is clear. We want more people to discover a Danish liqueur made with care for nature and with an exceptional taste – while also sharing the unique story behind it,” says Fie.
